Art as an act of reverence for the natural world

“Throughout my life, nature has been the primary source of discovery, fascination, and inspiration. It has always been present in my art, not only due to my interest in representing its beauty, the cycle of life, and the extraordinary organic forms and textures but also because it invites me to reflect on the intricate relationship and parallels between the natural and human worlds, such as the dualities of strength and vulnerability, the ephemeral and the lasting, and life and death. These concepts are explored both in small, intimate works and in larger formats.

Dedication to the craft, intuition, sensibility, and imagination are essential to my art. Technically, I work with a meticulous ritual, building layers of ink and translucent paint until the figures emerge, becoming representations of nature—from accurate depictions of plants and animals to surreal compositions. The intention behind every piece is to create a visual ensemble of fragments drawn from nature, delicately interwoven to evoke the circle of life and the invisible thread that connects us—humans—with all living organisms.”

Gabriela Sincich was born in Argentina in 1970. Her mentor was her father, Bernardo Sincich (1931–2006), landscape painter. His studio was a place of wonder, where she learned to paint and draw, spending countless hours captivated by books on art, mythology, and natural history. The lived experiences of that time and place had a profound and lasting effect on her life and work.

She attended the School of Fine Arts at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina, specializing in painting and drawing. After graduation, she traveled to Europe and lived in Spain and the UK, where she joined art groups and gained experience in opportunities related to art and design. Sincich also attended seminars, courses, and talks at renowned institutions to learn more about subjects she loves, such as surrealist artists, botanical art and illuminated manuscripts.

In 2001, she moved to the USA. During this new phase, her professional experience was vastly enriched by working for the Education Department at the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, CA. In 2009, she moved to West Lafayette, IN, where she resides permanently. Nowadays, her art practice includes collaborations in the field of natural science illustration to promote understanding and respect for the natural world.
